I’m taking a lot of art history classes right now as part of my major, and one theme I noticed was that of the subject matter that was once considered “high art”: religion, mythology, nubile young ladies… I decided I need to tackle some really serious liturgical subject matter. So here we are. I am a devout Pastafarian- I have ~25lbs of assorted pasta from Costco in my cupboard right now- so I chose to depict His Holy Noodliness, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, in the cosmic domain.
“Let us sing praise to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, for He is a loving God. Of His might and dominion, there is no compare; of His mercy and deliciousness, there is no equal. No other god can challenge Him; in the taste test, He is invincible. Through His pasta, He has blessed us with everlasting life, and holy is His Name. For He is the Flying Spaghetti Monster: the One, True, and Most High God, creator of man and midgit, giver of pasta, giver of sauce, from age to holy age; not created He was, but ever He lives, through the glory of spaghetti, now and forever. R’Amen.”

I stretched this canvas myself! It took forever. The painting itself took about 4 or 5 hours. I have an independent studio space now, which is awesome, because I spend all my time there in between classes.
